I have had two more home today, both birds bred by our friend and late Worthing and District H.S club Secretary Roy Olliver. The other is a 3 year cock, I've not handled him yet as he has only just turned up but he has retaken possession of his nest box so can't be too bad lol
Hopefully a few more will work back once they've rested up a bit.
As always there are some strange reports from races like this, one of our members had one of his entries reported on a fishing boat 35miles off the coast from Perth yesterday while other Fed members have already had birds reported from North of Perth down to the West Midlands !! Now considering the conditions that itself isn't surprising but what is, is that some birds always seem to make it through. Now is it the race birds or the clever birds that make it Are the birds that made it yesterday those that packed up early Saturday so were able to get up and go again early next day whereas those that kept going until nightfall were too worn out to do so the beauty of this sport is that we will never know
Well done anyway to all those in the result and that have birds back, hopefully more will continue to work in over the next few days

Trev i did say that the weather in the West midlands was bad maybe that is why some dropped here and some may just have missed the rain as you say things like that we never know, but huge congratulations and I hope your missing ones return, I also agree what you say about clocks if a bird does it's task it should get the recognition it deserves

I do agree with that and if mine was timed after other birds had arrived but not been timed I would say mine has beaten them. But in Les’s defence I know he doesn’t drive and has a difficult trek to get to his club so can fully understand why he didn’t clock it.

I did try to post the result but for some reason the forum wouldn't accept the format and I'm a technophobe
Any the combine had 115 members send 789 birds, I was 25th and 52nd, Les was 46th.
I also had my 7th bird arrive home today He's a 5 year old cock bred by friend and former Worthing President Brian Doick, he is bred down from Brian's very successful Janarden lines, he has been passed from Pillar to post as he was bred and raced as a youngster and yearling by Brian, then when Brian packed up he was given to the late Laurie Everett who broke and raced him in 2020. He came to me in 2021 when Laurie was sadly forced to pack up due to ill health. I bred from him in 2022 but sadly his youngsters died when I was got ybs, I bred a round from him this year and decided to put him on the road. He had 3 races from 82miles, 105miles and 108miles before sending him to Perth. I think knowing his pedigree I will probably stop him as he will be 6 years old next year and breed a couple of rounds from him.
