Actually, I'm not convinced about the reasons, I hesitate to say excuses, why there are too many losses these days.

I am of the opinion that good pigeons can stand the training and can be sent to the races fit and educated.
If there is a hesitancy to give the young pigeons a thorough training program for fear of losing them, I would say that either the pigeons or the trainer are not good enough.

But that's just my opinion.

I would never chase them out of the basket, give them time.

Without a back story hard to comment. He did say it was their first toss. The cloud not a problem as it was high cloud, he got them back a bit slow but. Any toss where you get them back is a good toss in my book.

I use to follow BIG RED T on youtube over the last few years, sad to say he past away last year he was a cracking fella and so funny to watch if you get time watch some of his videos he did like a smoke and a BIG RED T i'll leave that with you

It would be very rare for a team of youngsters to fly straight back to the loft on their first toss. Often take an hour or so. As you say King any toss where you get them all back is a good toss. They would have learnt a lot.
