Murray i have known it to be used on basket day, with the heat in the transporters.Murray wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2026 12:04 am I did try it once. They had some on special at the supermarket for $1 so I got one and put it 50/50 in the drinkers. They seemed quite keen on it.
It's another of these things that might do some good and can't do any harm, especially in the heat.
It's hot out there

Since you mentioned it before Devo, I have started drinking it myself - but not given it to the birds. I find it very refreshing in this hot weathrr especially straight out out of the fridge.
It hasn't made me want to get up and dance yet Lol.
I guess the juice of most fruits would offer delivery of similar nutrients etc, you could probably say the same about lager but if you put that in the water the birds would likely be dancing around the basket.
I was always told not to put anything in the water on the day of basketing other than clean fresh water and I dont see that there is anything better for hydration than that.

Dave, i think the point i would be making on basket day. If the birds are staying hydrated in the basket. In the wagon on a hot night, i would say they are more calmer. Saving their energy for the race ahead, now this may not be rocket science. But i do feel this would be more benifical to the bird. Now that answer could be true or false.Diamond Dave wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2026 7:36 am Since you mentioned it before Devo, I have started drinking it myself - but not given it to the birds. Is anyone training in these temps? Would it be ok to train first thing in the morning or would it be best to wait til it cools down?
