Hens had a bump yesterday.
6 out of 14 back late ( 2 injured/1 back this morning).
Not got them going on the roundabout properly yet.
If hens have another bad chuck might just revert back to w.hood.
So only sending the cocks this week - really not expecting to win anything this week so only going as trainers.
Following you guys advice I have changed my feeding completely so will be just looking to monitor and compare their performance.

Never understood why folks send birds as trainers, so many would have won races if sent as racers, not having a dig mate just curious as to why people do it when they have had same training etc as others and I know some clubs charge same for trainers as they do birds for clocking

Most clubs charge the same for trainers, but some fanciers are not into short racing with birds that are'nt for that kind of racing, and if you enter them as competing birds, you have to take your clock back on a Sat., and if you don't you get a N.T.R.

No worries Buster - let me try to explain.....
I have no hope of winning these early races and have no interested in trying.
My club is around 35 mins away and I have no desire to do that both ways on Friday night and the same again on Saturday night just to read a clock when I already know I can't compete and don't want to at such short distances.
I also race on my pension so have to be careful of the costs.
......We all have different goals mate and mine are certainly not 60 - 120 mile "training tosses"

I understand dave but there not training tosses there races ,,now conditioning a team to race as a team ain't easy ,,I had similar comments at club once I had massive drop 20 plus from 100 plus miles man says at club ya but it's only a training toss my answer to him in front off all the members was, why can't you do it and have never been able to do it been racing 50 yrs can't get 5 birds together ever but tried knocking a person who can do it ,,
If ya goal is 400 plus miles that's great but then when you reach 400 plus miles you want to be clocking at the front of race not hours after winners or next day or day after .

Yep, that has probably been me in the past Ant but can I just say I would certainly not be knocking anyone who can do that.
I couldn't agree more how hard it is to condition a team and certainly how hard it is to transition a team from feeding babies to getting them in the race baskets.
I have probably failed that with my hens but my cocks are better than I have ever had them so I am happy for them to go into the race basket thanks to you guys help with feeding and pre-season stuff.
However, I don't need to enter the race to find out how well they will do and will compare their performance
against previous years and other members results without having a clock set.
Tbh Ant I am just as excited about yours, Neils, Daves and Steve's results for this first race and cant wait for the post race analysis on Sunday - good luck to everyone.

It 83/93/119/157/157 next 6 races then all 205 upwards for I think 8 out the next 10 weeks with 4 short races on some of the weeks

How many birds do you send and this is the old bird races first
