Went there twice, had brilliant trips with some great memories. What a great venue too, remember buying two Schellen cocks off a local, he had a basket on the back of his push bike. Brilliant that is a old friend he passed away he bought a grizzle out of lier market 25 quid won him loads including the Kent invicta combine from le man's on a tough horrible day north east n cold all the way including across the sea but she did it and won it well.

Expensive pigeons don't guarantee anything, especially on the road. Yes,proven breeders are a different kettle of fish, and can demand higher prices.
But what's not to like about buying pigeons you like at bargain bucket prices.
Loved walking round Lier market, on our first trip, we got there and fanciers were walking round with torches, it was that dark, probably 6am?
My late Dad says, look at them daft buggers, leave em to it,we're going for a breakfast and a beer.
What an experience that was, we sat there in the pub/ cafe which I believe was also the local pigeon club HQ?Eating brekkie, sipping beer, and the locals ( who had been there all night) were playing cards.
Fanciers were passing the yb's they'd purchased around the tables, they were shavings and droppings on the tables, nobody bothered
I also remember seeing a load of baskets stacked up in the square, these were the young birds pre booked by them top Derbyshire fanciers the Gaunts.
Also remember hunting down the red hat man, to sort our paperwork out, he was a top bloke, great to talk to.

I was in one club house I was only one out of 2 coaches looking at results on wall ,,what I noticed the middle distance champ of club was way clear of serg van elsaker a house hold name he was only 3rd highest in he's local club but he's all over Internet how good he is the noyon n quivrien champ I had never heard off but thought why in gods earth are we visiting lofts that are like warehouses n natural breeding station when we should be around these local champions ,,if I go again it will be with few friends and I stay out in country and visit champion lofts not Internet fame lofts and stay away from antwerp its like a rat race there off foreign immigrants lots of samlians n others they look a real dodgy lot n its full of em there.
