Salt is a big no though healthwise . I have very little and never table salt although there isn’t much difference in the so called healthier options
It don’t matter now to you mate but add 20-25 years on it definitely buggers your heart up over time
When I had the heat scare I had a bit of a study up on it
Takeaway and man made foods are full of it
The lady I had to see told me a basic rule if man has made it outside your own home it’s 99 per cent going to be bad for you long term
Remember sitting at a table with a diabetic I had a jam doughnut n 3 sugars in my tea I could see he was tortured watching me and he said can I test ya sugars I said ya put my hand out put this thing on my thumb and he just shook he's head I said what's it say he said about perfect think he said it was 5 ,

I know where your coming from Ant. My job was/is physical and I sweat like a pedo in a playground and I believe I probably need more salt than most n sugar too coz you need that energy and don't mind a bit of fat on the meat as well.Anthony webster wrote: Thu Dec 04, 2025 7:02 pm What happens if you work physically hard Neil does that account for anything,,
All the things they say is bad for you but when you have a physical job, I think you need all that - having said that I'll probably "roll-over" tomorrow.

I be honest I don't want to live until I'm 100
I find emotional pain the most painful so if I get to see grandchildren I be happy I don't want to be alive with everyone close to me gone ,,I hate to go through that pain .
Plus I think you got to do what you enjoy and like ,can't see point of living a life where you can't enjoy the things you like.

Thanks for the concern and advice Neil - much appreciated mate.
I don't really eat too much processed food because it wouldnt sustain me through a days physical work and its shit anyway - I bet Ant don't either...?
I liken my diet to a long distance race bird - plenty of carbs for the energy, fats to keep me going if I start flagging, and then proteins to build me back for the next days work - there is nothing in processed food that gives you any of that.

It's fine Neil I don't look at anything like that I literally eat what I fancy pal but I love salt ,will have salt on most dinners I just like it pal ,i understand its bad ,,I chose never to drink alcohol some say its bad but I have irish buddy who's gran had a guiniss a day n lived until she was late 90s lol ,NeilA wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 9:47 am I never mentioned protein mate I understand you need protein
I replied to Bowbroom who mentioned salt being bad for us and then yourself as you said you like salt
I got no issue with what anyone does I just pointed out to much salt isn’t good so even though your fit now it can do damage longer term
I never mentioned any other food like fats / protein or calories it seems to have gone off topic to calories to work load
My reply was the salt in process foods and man made foods and salt in general like on our dinner or even homemade cooking isn’t good over certain levels
I could hardly say you crack on and pure it down your gob like water it will do you good
so I said to much is dangerous to your heart and that’s fact according to WHO the British heart foundation
