That photo is a lot more complimentary than the one published in the BHW, I think the point is the look of a pigeon has absolutely no bearing on how it can perform either as a racer or a breeder Neil

The only thing I've taken notice of was the feather's under the wing near the body, I think it was a fancier in Belfast who had Wright Bros pigeons at the time, it was prominent on the Vandebeeles, & the Limputtine pigeons, gave extra power on the downward part of the wing beats.
