Yes that's what you want to do get the young birds as far as you can personally i wouldn't send them to the channel but it's up to you but sadly this year with young birds the burton and south derbyshire federation didn't even get to Weymouth with young birds.

I don’t think it matters my best had 3 races no more than 5
In 2021 they had 2 or 3 races 7 of them went on to be fed winners the next two years
I do think they need training I like 35 -45 trainers not always that far but in different winds and cloudy sky etc

I’m pretty sure Anthony doesn’t always race his ybs hard maybe he could give example of his methods

I love racing baby's but some times you get issues like fat eye ,,but I like two if there not raced to be trained very well put on midweek trainer so they learn to break away from 300,400 birds this Yr I drove and let go with 2000 birds going north of country, but racing baby's and not racing don't bother me baby racing you lose the weak in first 3 yb races after that you hardly lose a baby unraced baby's as yearlings same you lose the weak first 3 ob races after that you won't lose many there's zero difference iv found in out come ,,

Yes it's a shame that we couldn't go. I've told my dad there 3 feds hitting are area and the won't go as one fed it baffles my especially the north derby fed which the border is a road (forgot the name of road) but i can see it from the garden and the won't fly as one fed

I can't fully remember but we had some issues with the convoyer she's brilliant but she got challenged by some fancier one week she was told she was drugging them because one club had bad returns but every other club had good returns and are club is very cheap per bird so for 2 weeks on the trot we didnt even the losses of costing the transport to the race

500 miles and over very few pigeons can do and as you go up in distance even less can do. You don't need scores or percentages they are the pigeons and they select themselves. I'd only ever remove a pigeon before it's been to at least 500 miles if it were ill or if it were showing it was absolutely useless. I don't have any theories in pigeons either, basket answers all them. Only thing I don't like is big pigeons. Apart from that if you can do 500 miles or further in good time your safe here

Each race sprint racing I clock and pull pocket clock out with in 1 min or so ,,the birds not clocked I'm not interested in the birds clocked get 10 points beside there number if there's 5 together they all get 10 points and so on at end of season I get results out add all the points up the best birds stay and rest are removed ,baby's I'm not as strict on but if a baby goes of colour 2 times it's removed if one it's late 3 times from training or racing it's removed if it's bad race and birds are drifting in all day all birds are forgiven buy good races 3 times there removed,,
All so won't tolerate baby's sqeaking all the time one tolerate seed pinchers won't tolerate baby's that Goe on a house roof after 1 week of being let out and won't tolerate a baby that don't toe the line.
Most attention is paid on East winds I find the east wind pigeons are different level in toughness and breeding iv had fast pigeons that spew it soon as its tough with cold east wind on there head.

That's true goose I had a excelsior hen did nothing as a yb then as a yearling my dad and me sent it to vire (france) and I came home then the old bird season that just went i was joint pigeon of the year and I've got its pedigree and if I knew it's pedigree before france I'm certain I was probably not going to send it mike lycett know what hen im on about
