York is in a Mandatory Housing Avian Influenza Prevention Zone. There are 3 outbreak areas around York. See link and zoom in.

Bird flu Burnopfield 3 Km zone merged with the 10Km zone so no training or racing allowed

Yes that was the official story, that Covid originated in bats, and woe betide anyone who dared suggest it didn't. Conspiracy theory.
