Also thinking about if you selected birds and moved on ones that did race but never become superstars is it right to keep one that’s also achieved nothing

There's a difference in a bird that returns, after months away. and has been out in the elements, and a bird that has been in, and like you say, the ones that have been in, could just have been down on thier luck, you have to make that judgement as a fancier.

Agree Albert there is a difference from wanting to be away than not having the option

When I lost this one I let up 2 baskets 10mins apart.
The first basket all home ok. Only got 1 from the 2nd basket sometime late eve. Then only 1 or 2 more over the next 3 days. Had to go to collect one some 2 weeks later from a non fancier which was totally flown down.
This bitd was one of 7 that I lost that day.
He has obviously been in somewhere but he will defo get a 2nd chance.

If you fly w/hood cocks he could earn his corn as a tease cock by putting him in with another cocks hen and letting him see them just before basketing we’ve done this with success many times

That's how I look at it too. And I have had one or two stray into my place that have stayed and made decent racers.
It's a funny old game.

Yes, thanx for that Neil. In terms of "territory" I guess it will be as good as a box

I think so
I have a spare cock he had a v at the highest point as we know cocks tend to go high up so easy to get him to use it
I changed the v for a small board just enough room for a bowl.I put a piece of ply on the top of the bowl and he stands on that
I took the ply off for 3 days and he was laying on his bowl every time I went in the shed
It’s covered now again to racing starts
So to me it’s his box and I think he thinks the same I believe
