I have to say that I don't treat mine for anything anymore unless I think there is problem.

With worms I don’t always think you would see see Trev bit like canker you can’t always detect it but both bugger your times up Saturday

I don't often treat for worms, probably just before breeding and before racing starts.
Obviously a heavy infestation of worms is undesirable, but I know blokes who never worm their birds and they probably have some. The birds look great and win races. I think the birds develop a symbiotic relationship with the worms and it doesn't seem to harm them. Could be.

Got to be better to have worm free pigeons though isn’t it Murray we need our birds to be as healthy as possible to win in a competitive area

I would think so Neil, but there you go. Some people do it differently.
I do think you can overdo worming. In the finish the worms can become resistant to everything, then what do you do?

Do you mean in a an individual pigeon or a family that the worms could become resistant ?

i would be concerned about my whole loft, the colony of pigeons becoming vulnerable to anthelmintic resistant parasites. It is well proven that worms do become resistant to wormers surprisingly quickly. So I would change the medication regularly. Read the pack. There are lots of brands that all contain the same ingredient.
And I am hesitant about worming pigeons just because I have a tube of wormer and nothing better to do. It's only me, but I think the medication is best kept in the cupboard so if you Do need it, it will work.

Must admit I blind treat for worms. regular twice in the winter and every 6-7 weeks in the spring and summer
Stock birds twice a year
Never really thought about my flock getting resistant to it
I do change the product but moxidectin is my go to product
I think as I don’t race a pigeon past 3 years old these things about resistance don’t really come into my head I just need them to be in the peak of health to compete for the 3 years they race after that they go to stock and get little treatment just worms twice and canker twice nothing else

And you need to careful about changing what works for you, just because someone does something different. I know you are always looking for the best way to do things, so I reckon you are thinking about this too.
