Just been trying to obtain some limestone flower, no one even heard of it round here.
It seems I can get both hydrated lime and natural hydraulic lime from a local builders merchants.
I assume that the hydrated lime is the stuff not to use but is the natural hydraulic lime ok....?

I was thought it could bugger your lungs up or was that another form of lime that I can’t remember

I dont think I would be too worried about that Neil, as I always wear a mask in the loft and I like the idea of it killing all bacteria.
However my concern would then be for the birds lungs!!!

I agree of course Neil but no-one has mentioned the Hydraulic lime yet?
There's a guy online giving a demo on the use of both and he says that it is calcium carbonate but the demo is for another use.
I have googled several descriptions of hyraulic lime but none come up with a distinctive description. I dont want to rule it out as a possibility when it is available locally.

Thankyou everyone for taking the time to reply.
I always thought that a lot of the problems with pigeon fanciers lung was caused through using lime, but I guess any powder used too freely would cause problems. Nonetheless, I will go for the safe option. It will be used very sparingly and only on damp days.
Thanks again.

Sorry to hear that Murray. I would never have known that from your posts mate. You always seem upbeat, pragmatic and very helpful.
Do you think it was caused by keeping the birds?
Sincerely wish you good luck with it though buddy.
