Being as the front is dowelled, am I likely to get rain driving into the loft....?

In short yes, it all depends which direction rain is coming from, my roof is the same as yours and I do mine faces west

Looks a de ent length overhang but I think on certain winds you may still get rain
Could small wildbirds or even rodents get through the gaps

Ah, never though of that NeilA. Thought a dowelled front would be quite healthy for the birds but there are so many other things to think of.
The guy that I got the loft from was a good flyer and he just had the dowelled frontage.....?

I'd wire mesh the inside to stop sparrows coming in. This is my stock loft. It has a lift up cover when raining.

Most days that it rains I have to dry loft out, my loft does have doors that I have to close and cover top traps

I like to have a deep litter in the YB side so it would be a problem if its constantly getting wet.
I cant do anything about it anyway now, it is what it is and I shall have to adapt to whatever comes along.
