I did some arithmetic, I reckon it was doing about 35 miles to the gallon on the whole trip, including town driving at both ends. Not bad for a big car.
Of course it is doing it very easy on the open road. Our other car, the little Nissan, is running at nearly 3000 rpm at 100 kilometres per hour. The Holden is only doing about 1750 rpm.

About 40 pounds. And I run the car on Premium which is 20 cents or about 10p a litre more than regular unleaded.
Not bad at all that

I hope you find the right place for you and Cathrine soon Murray. Have you got a time scale for finding somewhere before you have to move from your old place?
Some of the old classic cars are great. I have just gone the opposite way though. I’ve just replaced my 9 year Old Ford Kuga with a nearly new Ford Kuga plug In hybrid. Had it three weeks now. Very impressed. So hi-tec though these days. Even without charging half of most journeys are on regenerated electric from slowing down and braking giving me an average of 65 mpg from its 2.5 litre petrol engine.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

Yep, some of the electric cars now are phenomenal. The range on battery only is as good as a tank of fuel.
But, you would need your head read if you bought one in in Australia. Especially in Victoria.
They are making noises like everyone will have an electric car by 2035 or something.
They are making noises like they will have demolished all the power stations by 2030 or something.
So, everyone will have an electric car, but there will be no electricity. ;)
And NO No NO, you can NOT run every vehicle in the country on bloody solar panels and windmills. There's 20 million vehicles in Australia, and we have to travel long distances. It's a big place.
They would need tens of millions of solar panels, just to run the passenger fleet. The heavy transport industry, probably hundreds of millions.
But that doesn't matter. We have a socialist government who have to bow down the the green left to stay in power.....

Fortunately its to the chest, not the throat and crop, so he will recover, but he's gone from being one of the 'star' youngsters to really being useless. By the time he heals up we will be moved, and they are no good after being hit hard like that.
I also have one that has hit something and limps, and one that arrived home today after being out since yesterday. It's very tired. Flown a million miles.
So, after training 30 pigeons in two teams over two days, I am missing one, have one badly damaged, one mildly damaged, and one flown out. Oh, and I lost another one off the loft. :(
It's a great game alright.
I am pretty annoyed about that little dark chequer cock arriving home ripped up.
We cleaned him up and sprayed the wounds with purple wound spray. When Catherine was spraying it into the wounds she asked if it hurt them. Oh yes, I said, that stings like hell. :o
They had a day inside yesterday while we went Tiki touring, which did them no harm, and this afternoon they were all out when the little hawk came through, "chet chet chet chet"! :o  They all took off, including the little bloke with the skin hanging off his chest and a big gark in his side!
When they came down he went back on his perch and I fed him there.
The pigeon is a dark chequer, with one white flight in his left wing. His father is the White flight Jos Thone' cock, his mother is the Melbourne 600 mile hen. It is a quality pigeon.
He has the most beautiful soft plumage, and just gleams in the light. Tonight he was on his perch, strutting and carrying on, gleaming in the light, but there's purple wound spray all over his front, and blood weeping down his legs. :(
Hawks. I hate them. I do, I hate them.

It does sound like your little dark one is a gutsy little chap, I hope he recovers well for you mate. Maybe that purple spray put the hawk off hitting him again !! We do have some fanciers round here that spray their birds with a pink dye which supposedly puts the hawks off 🤔🤔
I agree mate, the hawks are nasty creatures !!

It's the same over here Muzza although we generally don't quite have the miles to drive as you have over there !! I'm not sure who has really done the maths on this whole going completely electric buisness, we certainly haven't got the infrastructure in place to handle it, probably over half the population over here can't even park outside their own houses so how they are supposed to charge their vehicles I really don't know !! I can already see the arguments at the service stations as people fight to get the next available charge point lol. Also alot of the estates don't have big enough power supplies to deal take either.
The other thing I don't get is that we are still mining fossil fuels to make the batteries, many of these mines are mined by children in dangerous conditions, and where are all the batteries going to go when they need disposing of ??
I'm convinced that is why our government are happy to lose our farms as they want more solar farms, wind farms and bio digesters and just continue to import the food we eat !! I shall be resisting going electric for as long as I possibly can lol.
