It is that time of the year, cold hard, driving rain. This is the time to make sure your loft is well maintained. Keeping a dry loft is so important, to the health of your birds. Over the next 5 months, there will be so much going on around the loft. So make sure your well prepared; your plans for racing need to be protected. So good selection on breeding is a must; the health of your birds is paramount. But just remember your own heath is important too, because without you. All tasks of the loft will not be carried out, so wrap up well and enjoy the winter months of the sport.

Would you do anything different this time of year with the birds?

More supplements or probiotics used maybe?

Observation is the key Matt, knowing your birds is a must. Keep checking droppings, and handle your birds. Give them a good check over, is their throat clear? does their body feel right. Good nutrition and grit and minerals, clean water daily. Dont reach for something that is not needed.

I have just been in to the birds not let them out today, so spent some time in there with them.
Loft is a dry as a bone which is good.
good to spend some time with them while feeding them by hand as well they are all different characters

Forgive me for feeling a little bit smug, but when I saw that heading I grinned to myself. I've come out of an unusually cold wet winter and I'm frightening the dogs and children with my white legs sticking out of my shorts!
I do not like winter and I'm pleased it's behind me.
I'll be thinking of you all. :D
