It’s easy to get birds to trap like that if you keep them hungry. But I don’t think birds like that would be in the right condition for racing.
I just think that we need to be very careful on what we post for new members to watch where they might think that this is how they should all be kept. I’ve been watching some of the traps of Mark Gilbert, can’t get a much better fancier than him, and his pigeons circle a couple of times before coming down and don’t rush to go in. They’re not slow by any means but also don’t rush. He has his ETS pads attached to the landing boards so as soon as they touch down they are recorded though.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

I was watching Mark's videos too, Andy. His pigeons are a credit to him, they clearly aren't starving but trap in great style.
He is certainly one of the very best.

it's nothing to do with starving of course there hungry on return from race yes they are top birds but how can you tell there not hungry but trap in style there going round and " not rushing to come in" come on ffs one or the other going round is a big no no cost you a race

I dont know how many times i have heard, i lost 2 minutes they just would not trap. No use flying all that way home, then just enjoying the view of your loft. Bang home and in.

But there's other ways of doing things. ;)
My young birds are fed twice a day and from a 20 mile toss, if there's not enough room on the sputnik they will land on my head instead :lol:
You gotta get them around to your way of thinking.....
