At present I am racing in 2 races each weekend. This weekend I sent the 9 widowhood cocks to Brighton 102 miles with the West of England South Road Combine. They were liberated at 7.15 in a light NE wind. I thought they would be reasonably quick. But was surprised when I had one drop at 8.56. I had a second one flying around at 9.00 but then disappeared. He came back 4 minutes later clapping around. I later found out that the Worcester fed had liberated from Wincanton race course at 9.00. So I think he saw them and went on a bit of an excursion lol. I had a third at 9.08. By half ten I had 7/9. The 8th at 11.41. I haven’t seen the last one. The winner in our club was doing 1924ypm. I was 16th club 41st Combine. It is a very difficult club to win with a lot of very good fanciers, fanciers who have won many nationals and classics between them. Including 1st & 2nd section 5th & 6th open in last weeks classic and 2nd section 2nd open plus 5 club members in the first 28 open positions in this weeks BICC race. But a fantastic friendly and sociable club.
The first bird was a blue pied yearling bred from “Steve” the blue pied cock from Buster. Second was a red grizzle bred down from a red cock from Magic and the grizzle hen from George. Third bird was Muzzaboy. Bred from Pete’s Muzzabelle bred by Pete. Ironic that Pete came back on the forum today.
The other race was Chale 57 miles with the 3 Counties Championship Club.
I decided to just send 3 two year old spare hens who have been flying out with the youngsters. These hadn’t seen a basket this year. The first one not since a youngster.
These were released at 11.15 in a light E. I had 2 drop together at 12.14. Taking 17th & 18th club. I haven’t seen the third. First bird was bred by Buster. She raced well as a youngster but wasn’t raced last year as she was a widowhood hen. Second was from a cock from Trev and a hen from distance stock.
There were a few missing from both races in the club. So on the whole I was very pleased with them.
Dave and John Staddon had the first 3 and will probably be 1st and 3rd open in the 3 counties. The first 2 were from their marathon family. Distance pigeons can sprint.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

Good work, Andy.
We know that there are some who might say that was not a good result, but you are having the satisfaction of actually having birds in the races and being in the mix, furthermore.
I'm pleased the Muzzaboy is still competing and going alright, too!
Greetings from the land down under. :D
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for verily, he shall not be disappointed.

Great to see you enjoying your racing again, and further more enjoying the social side of a good club too.
You are only just starting out back on widowhood again, and primarily with birds bred with distance in mind. I think you are doing a great job, especially considering your location and the strength of club you are flying in.
Keep up the good work, but most of all, keep enjoying it bruv.

We have 19 flying members in our club sending around 400 birds each week over the 2 races. Some members like myself send to both, some just send to one or the other.
These are the 2 club results from this weekend.
