My daughter has rescued an ex racer, I don't think people have an understanding of what these dog's endure after racing finishes for them.
To be left in a barn, was taken in by the Welsh greyhound rescue, my daughter has taken this dog on, has settled after about a year with issues but is gradually improving .
Regards Dave.

I don’t think there’s any doubt that most if not all sports involving animals in this country will be phased out, the last to go of course will be “The Sport of Kings” because of the money involved even though Royal patronage for that is on the way out as has already happened to our game, the current King isn’t as keen as his forebears were

Hello Neil, I think he's about 4 years old, I would say if he hasn't done much winning then there moved on pretty early, he's an Irish dog & did win as found something online him running, other than that the information is very limited, he still has his tattoos inside his ears, maybe he was moved on because they found out he has a heart mumour, but they check regularly at the vet's he's one of the lucky ones.NeilA wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 2:37 pm Didn’t really think of that Dave
What age do they finish racing ? To be honest only been a couple of times many years ago .
Not being one to ever bet on anything I guess I never had the interest
Is it banned due to there time as racers or lack of after care when they are finished
Regards Dave.

My daughter goes away with him on breaks away, he good when walking they only let him off if they are on the beach or in a big field, he's good with other dog's, but you have to be careful if he sees cat's, squirrel, pheasant, he will chase them, so you have to watch them all the time it's in them to hunt you'll never change that.
Regards Dave.
