Talk about anything racing pigeon related here aslong as there isnt a section for it.

Sorry I haven’t put up more about this year’s youngsters to date. I have just been so busy with the shop. They aren’t being handled much but certainly aren’t being neglected. They are still being scraped out and fed twice a day with fresh water. In the mornings they just get a light feed and aren’t going out at present. Mainly because if they don’t come in they tend to sit on the house roofs around us and on peoples velux windows, which now it is warming up are often open. I let them out at around 3pm and get them back in around 6pm. The old birds are out with them as they are still on open loft. They are flying well and looking good. Up until now I haven’t lost any off the loft so still have everyone’s birds here👍 🤞🤞.
Here are a couple of photos inside the loft. I will try to get more photos and a better update over the next few days.

Thanks for that update and the pictures, Andy.
I wouldn't worry about not spending a lot of time handling them and just keep doing what you are doing. They look happy.
I really like the little one with the big tic behind it's eye, peering out from the door in the second picture.
Pigeons really don't like being handled. I make myself leave them alone, and try not to pick up the same one twice in a row.
You are like me, Andy, we are kind and gentle with our animals, and I always have pigeons sitting on me. The difference being I am about 5' 2", and present a small intrusion in the loft. You are quite a lot bigger, and would be a threat, except you are a natural stockman.
We are becoming a rare breed.
Greetings from the land down under. :D

It is better having the sections a bit smaller George. You do have more control over them. When I moved the loft I did toy with the idea of having just the one section but decided it was better to split into 2 sections. I do keep the door between the sections open all the time though but can shut it if needed or when catching them.

The youngster with the big tic by the eye in the second photo is the same one that’s on the floor in the fourth photo. It’s the youngsters out of Polly 🙂🙂

They look very nice Andy, I like the Dark Chequer on the front shelf in the first picture, got the look of the old Janssens about him 👍 Poly's baby does look nice too.
I hope they do well for you.

Yes I need to get my numbers down and more manageable so I can separate the young and old birds next year, I do like them running together and having the whole loft out together but it does make controlling the youngsters a bit harder.

The dark chequer, I think dark grizzle, is one from Buster, as is the blue pied next to it.

I did think was one from me when I first seen it when you posted pics, but doubting myself now, if it is then the reason resembles the old Janssen lines is because it is from 100% Janssen grandparents and parents are dad 100% janssen and mom 100% Lambrect
