Well done T Hodges.
Don't diminish the result. You can only beat what lines up against you.
Greetings from the land down under. :D

Never knock a winner Trevor - Well Done

As they've said you can only beat what's in the basket at your club - if others don't send they can't beat you

In terms of the Federation, I've pretty much given up trying to work out what's going on with your Fed because its like racing that's alien to me

The Federation winner is over 30 minutes ahead of your Club winner, and very comfortably clear of the next loft too

It messes with my head

Dust yourself down and get ready to roll again. Well done

Hopefully the numbers will be up a bit again today, with some members sending their 2nd teams or birds recovering from injury for the last 3 races 🤞

It is a new federation that has only been going for 3 years, it was formed after Channel racing became difficult by members who wanted distance racing and were sick of just racing along the coast every week. We have 5 clubs with around 100 individual members, we also have the South Coast Federation down here, of which we were part of 2 years ago, so members are split with some still belonging to both Feds. A lot of our members, North and South, are also more interested in the classic races, BICC, BBC and NFC so often numbers are down when these organisations are racing. There are also a lot of local fanciers who don't do club racing and only fly in the classics.

Our race yesterday was from Bovingdon, only 60miles so should have been a nice easy one with some members coming back in after a couple of weeks rest and some with their later bred youngsters. Unfortunately the conditions didn't make it quite so straightforward, the cloud never lifted all day and the North West wind just got stronger. The birds were let go at 1.30 in what was said to be a light North East wind, I thought the winners would be doing a mile a minute. Well that wasn't to be, my first bird turned up at 2.52 closely followed by 2 together and then another one, funny enough the first one appeared to come off the downs whereas all the others came up across the fields from the South West. I had 9 in about 40 minutes and by the time I went to the club I had 16/21 youngsters and 3/4 old birds I'd stuck in for trainers.
When I got home at 9 there were another 2 home so had 18/21, I've had the last old bird back this morning, she was having her first outing since having to be stitched up following a nasty injury to her throat and crop.
Five of the birds sent today were first timers, I've got 4/5 of them, 1 was having his first race since returning late from his first race, the other has had every race so far so should turn up today.

This is my clock sheet, our club result and the provisional federation top 10, we will take the first 20 in the fed this week.

I am the most Northerly and one of the most easterly fliers in our club so on the whole am pretty pleased to have got them as early as I did, well two more to go then the sort out can begin.
