It was the same in New Zealand. Blokes with terrific pigeons that had raced very well as YB's, yearlings and two year olds were no longer needed because the younger pigeons were coming through and they needed the space.
The fact is a younger pigeon is usually as good as an older pigeon. Most if them don't get better, they just get older.
