Only because they’re the latest craze Trev so there is a good percentage of them in the races. A couple of years ago it was the Gaby’s! Now you hardly hear about them.Trev wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 9:55 pmVery nice MuzzaMurray wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 1:25 am The babies are starting to arrive thick and fast.
Here’s some pictures of some of them
This one is interesting. He is half Van Den Bulck Pitbull half Heremans. He and his nest mate were running around on the floor out at David’s place. He told me to grab one while I was looking after his birds. I bought him home and a couple of days latter he ventured out. A bloody magpie immediately attacked him and chased him away![]()
I thought that was the end of him but next morning he was on the roof. I put a hen out and he followed her in the Sputnik.
He’s a clever little bloke. Traps on the call like an old hand.![]()
What distances do you think this one will do ?? It's the Pitbulls and Heremans that most of the top sprint fanciers around here are winning with !!!
Murray
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
The rings were a little bit late so a few of them have last year's rings on. It's all age racing here so it doesn't matter.
The cock is a Van Loon x Jos Thone' and the hen is a Jos Thone' x Van Loon. Unrelated. The youngsters out of them are pretty but haven't done much.
Greetings from the land down under.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for verily, he shall not be disappointed.

Quite right, Andy. He's just a pigeon at the end of the day. What I really like about the "new" imports is they are so smart. Honestly, it's like they are born broken in to the trap! Those little reds, first day in the loft, straight in the sputnik. Peter the Pitbull, came from another place, comes in when called. I love them.Andy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 10:18 pmOnly because they’re the latest craze Trev so there is a good percentage of them in the races. A couple of years ago it was the Gaby’s! That is a good trait to have in them Murray. They are obviously intelligent pigeons. Hope they do well for you. I think a lot of it is how they are looked after but some are always quieter than others. Busters Mealey doesn’t like being caught but a blue chequer of his is very friendly, both looked after the same.Murray wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 10:26 pmQuite right, Andy. The Hereman Cuester pigeons have been winning sprint races for a long time now, they are what Steve and Paul Kulpa were winning with !! Of course if you go back far enough, as with most modern strains, you will find Janssen in them !!Andy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 10:18 pmOnly because they’re the latest craze Trev so there is a good percentage of them in the races. Absolutely.
Example, my Billion Dollar baby is by a Heremans cock, Hawkeye, out of a Patrick Boeckx hen, which is, largely Heremans!. The Heremans pigeons nearly all trace back to the Jansen pigeons if you look back.
The Billion Dollar baby, mated to a son of the Melbourne 600 mile hen and one of my Jansen x Van Loon types, has produced 3000/21 which has won first prize two weeks running for Paul Lavars at Moama.
The Jansen blood never seems to run out.
