In March of this year forum member Devo made a very long trip to Australia, way down here in the colonies. :D
Found us as we are, and became a dear friend by the time he left.
While he was here we hatched a plan to breed pigeons for OLRs, Breeders Plate races, there is a lot of them happening here. So we formed a partnership to do it.
As it became more and more of a reality I thought we might use a name for the partnership.
So we looked at
McPhie & Dever
Dever & McPhie
D & M Racing
Etc.
Not very inspiring.
Then I was thinking, doodling around, and I thought that Devo's loft was 5 Star Loft. So,
Welcome to Five Star Lofts Australia.

That's the brand of our partnership.
With the new young breeding pigeons and the the new loft, we are looking at combining having a serious go at the big money on offer over here, with having a huge amount of fun :D
And if you aren't having fun, it was a poor investment.

The starting of a great venture, for Murray and myself. What started as a drive to Murrays home, became the way forward to our new dream. It was like we had done this trip before, or maybe it was just planned for us to form a partnership. So soon our plans will unfold, and the real venture begins.

Yes it was.
Looking back on it, George got off the train, we recognised each other, walked up and hugged each other, and by the time we had driven an hour and a bit home we were completing each other's sentences.
It was very much as if we had met before and done the trip before.
Extraordinary. :D
So I have absolutely no doubts that this is going to work.

The race we have two pigeons in, the Meadow OLR in Melbourne will start training in about June. There will be training races and then the final series.
Race 1 16th August 350 km
Race 2 30th August 450 km
Race 3 14th September 600 km (About 350 miles)

Next year we plan to have pigeons in at least two OLR's and several Breeder/buyer races as well as the Eureka Cup race organised by the Ballarat Combine.

Thanks Dave.
Appreciated.
Yes it's very good for both of us, It allows Devo to expand his interest in racing in various countries. It gives me a focus. I was sort of resigned to messing about with no real goals.
If you aim at nothing, you are certain to hit it.
So we have a plan now. And the planning is in a way the most satisfying part. If you succeed that is the icing on the cake.

I was talking to one of the blokes in Horsham who got quite a few from me for the breeder plate race. Explained what we are doing and told him about the new loft, new stock birds etc.
I asked him how the youngsters are going. He reckons they are going well.
I told him I've got a rag tag bunch of the late breds and one's that didn't go away to other lofts. I also said they are the best team I have ever had, or that I can remember. They flew an hour this morning and 45 minutes this afternoon, and only stopped because I called them. Brilliant youngsters.
I said if his is are as good as these, and they should be, we might get a quid. That cheered him up. :D
