It has struck me that there is absolutely no screening of applicants applying to be made members of this forum.
That cant be real good. There is a long list of names of new members, 99% of whom never post and are obviously just having a look at what's going on.
May I suggest that there be a simple questionnaire included in the application field, and the administrators have a look at what information the applicant provides before hitting OK? Having demonstrated an interest in pigeon racing, of some description, might be considered a reasonable requirement for membership.
There are four administrators listed, surely it would not be too hard to do?
Just a thought.

Murray.
do you mean club or union number
do you mean club or union number
Not necessarily.
I don't have a club or union number, they don't have them where I live.
I mean a couple of simple questions to ascertain whether an applicant is a pigeon fancier or not.
If you aren't a pigeon racer, or want to be, why are you applying to join a pigeon racing forum?

Murray.
Perhaps answer two questions or a manual entry on why your joining? I know a couple groups on facebook do that.
Not so retired racer, part time webmaster and part time distiller
I quite agree Murray it does want looking into as there are far too many strange members turning up on here who clearly have no interest in pigeons or intention to add anything to the forum. I know not everyone wants to partake in conversation or have the time but still find the forum useful but it does give a false impression of how popular the site is. The only thing I would say is we do get a few non fanciers coming on here to report pigeons or to ask advice on caring for the bird or how to find out who it belongs to so there would need to be some provision to ensure this could still happen.

I got some yesterday.
Went to the club's ring secretary, gave him some money, he gave me some rings.
The numbers will be recorded against my name in the register.
How do you do it over there?
