Raining.

Thursday afternoon after flying they are fed in. As soon as some turn away the feed is removed.
Friday they are fed once, mid morning. As soon as a couple turn away, the feed is removed.
That's it.

I think I was about 6 when I first saw pigeons on the platform at Christchurch railway station, waiting to go on the train. Fell for them on the spot.
My father built a little which I filled with anything I could find.
It was many years before I had my first racing pigeons.

At what age did members have their first encounter with pigeons? The size of the YB team is a huge factor. The smaller your team the quicker they will fly. My YB team was around 25 bred from 2 rounds. Weaned into TWO sections. I'll take the camera and get some good shots one day.
It's an hour's drive each way so we tend not to go there all the time.

When I went in the loft most of them just quietly pottered off outside into the aviary.
