Re: Life in Bealiba.

I got a missed call at lunchtime from young Mick the builder, asking something about how the loft went together. I called him back and he said never mind, he'd sorted it out. Re: Amino acids.

I have given my pigeons fish oil for a long time, and not because someone told me it is a "golden bullet". I figured that a grain diet was likely to be deficient in Omega 3 amino acids. So I squeeze a fish oil capsule over the feed and shake it through. I do that every second day or so. My...

Re: Cocks bringing up youngsters

That's an interesting one. In theory I would let the cocks raise a baby or maybe a pair, but on the odd occasion that for some reason they didn't it made no difference that I could see. They performed just as well.

Re: Fats / carbs

This is an interesting topic, because it is an opportunity to look at the trend towards feeding one mixture every day of the week to every pigeon. This is not a new thing. Jos. Van Limpt 'De Klak' always bought the same grain mixture and every pigeon ate it every day. And how great was De Klak? When...

Re: Late breed

While I wouldn't aim to have latebreds, last year I won a short race with one. One of the red Jos Thone' cocks had a pair of fertile eggs, and I thought what the heck, I might get a hen for stock or something..... One was a little mealy cock, who got put in with the big youngsters, had all the tosse...
