Re: Most pairs on eggs

Unfortunately I now have 5 missing, the ones at Roy's are apparently quite happy sharing the wild bird seed that his wife puts out lol 😕😂 so it could be a while before they feel like coming back 😒 I also had a late bred yesterday that wasn't looking too happy, I also noticed that its beak didn't lo...

Re: Finished for the season

That's true, Andy.
The hen has had a couple of hits, and this one is a bad one. I think it would be unkind to make her go again.
She might breed something good, and anyway, one pigeon doesnt make a huge difference to the feed bill.
Let her be.

Re: Rough start.

I think I shall call her Ashley, after Ash Barty, who is not only a champion tennis player, but a champion person. She has achieved greatness in her sport by sheer effort and determination.
Yep, that'll do.

Re: Rough start.

Great story Muzza and good to hear the wee one has made a good recovery and has established her place in your loft, obviously a gutsy little lady so being English I would have to call her Maggie after the strongest leader this country has ever had 👍😀 As far as her breeding goes everyone and their a...

Re: Rough start.

Of course the 'Pitbull' is just another of the same lines that made good, and clever people are making a fast buck out of it. That said, after a decade of breeding of the same thing year in and year out, they were a family, but nothing special. These pigeons which are the absolute latest thing are b...

Re: Getting the right nutrition fed.

I mentioned that I had increased the feeding to met the demands of the pigeons while they were growing and moulting. It's time to put them back on the normal mix, I think. I noticed that a lot of them were content to wander around the garden and not fly much yesterday, and one or two are looking qui...

Re: Our friends in Aus

Thanks for the kind thoughts.
killer is in Wollongong, south of Sydney, and he will be getting wet.
I am way south of there, about a 1000 kilometre drive, so we are well away from it and safe.

Re: Rough start.

The little one, who needs a name, :?: is really doing great. I was standing at the side of the loft when I saw her fly up onto the shelf and have a good drink from the drinker. I had been putting her head in the drinker for a few days. She has taken a perch in a sheltered place and is very happy. Sh...
