I was told just this last weekend by a fancier who has won most of the big races that as long as the tail feathers are a couple of inches long the bird will fly fine. They only use the tail when stopping.

Look at the difference in the sky. The liberation from the boat was terrible. Dark skies and birds going all ways, looked like some even flew into each other. Are these sea liberations from a ship that has anchored up for a couple of hours or so before release? I doubt it.

Looks like the winner was well out in font. The rest of those in the first 10 must have come together . Yes it is quite slow.
