Re: What do members use for canker.
When dya give the 5 day treatment H....?
I'd usually give them the 5 day treatment after training prior to the first race
I'm a big believer that stress increases canker count in pigeons
Usually I'd give a respitory treatment prior to loft flying and training so the birds airways are ...

Re: What do members use for canker.
I use what ever is to hand usually spartrix or Ronidazole
Usually a good 5 day treatment followed by 3 days of Nifuramycin on the corn
In the race season I would use a Spartrix tablet every 3/4 weeks to keep the count down with racing stress

Re: Boxing Hens Up
Thanks for the replies
I currently fly them celibate both cocks and hens apart from on return on a Saturday when they can be together paired or unpaired
The cocks are usually in the avairy or on their widowhood boxes
The hens are avairy then in a hens section

Boxing Hens Up
Hi All
What's everyone's opinion on keeping hens boxed at night to prevent pairing / build a bond with their box?
I've got 16 widowhood cock boxes and want to try letting the cocks have their box on a Friday / Saturday as a reward
But I want to keep the hens in their during the week then deny ...

Re: the correct amount of Feed
I've bought some cheap scales from Amazon and use a measuring jug zeroed on the scales
Fill it to lets say 300g for 10 pigeons and mark a line (you can do the same for 150f)
Then essentially fill it to the desired line each time and feed 30g per pigeon
I feed once in an evening but always use a ...

Loft Flying or Training for Young birds
What are people's approach on this?
At the moment I'm struggling for time with the birds so they are getting at least one 20 mile chuck a day and maybe 2 if I get chance
The training spot there and back is 1 hour in total so the same as having lets say having the young cocks out
Do you think this ...

Re: What mix are you feeding.
The young birds are on BJF Gerry mix with black rape, hemp and peanuts as their trapping mix
Old birds I feed Beyers vandebeele mix as a base adding 20-35% Beyers Hi Digest Energy depending on distance and work done by the birds
They will both have Microbz which is a liquid chicken probiotic added ...

Re: Hens vs cocks
I think if you are very limited on time then hens are fantastic
Honest, need little to no motivation and are super consistent
If you have the time and are dedicated then cocks are brilliant to play games with and motivate
I always have believed that your best hen is better than your worst ...
