I have found a very friendly pidgeon in my garden this evening. I live in Bolton and will try and post some pictures of it. I don’t know anything about pidgeons. I just found this forum to see if anyone can claim it.

I would say from the age of it that it is someone’s old favourite. The green ring is a race rubber but does look a perished. If you can’t catch it and get the full number then hopefully after a bit of food and water it will head off home.
Managed to catch him and took photo of number.
Hi There, thank you for reporting the pigeon, if you phone this number tomorrow Tel: 01452 713529 You can give them the ring number, and they will contact owner of the bird. Thank you once again.
Ok thank you.
Good to hear that you’ve managed to catch it, and thank you for reporting it l
Hi Polly if you contact Chris Herbert on 01606 591537 he may be able to help you as he was the ring issuing secretary, many thanks for reporting the bird

Well done Polly and on behalf of us pigeon fanciers thankyou for taking the time and trouble to care for the bird and try to find out who he belongs to.
Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
Best wishes.

Looking at the 2012 ring list the ring was originally issued to the Moulton WM FC in Cheshire Telephone 01606 591537. Probably still best going through the RPRA though as the bird may not still belong to the original breeder.
Just a quick update. I rang the number and found out she belonged to a guy in Northwich.
She stuck around until yesterday evening and the owner text me this morning to say she arrived home late last night.
I can rest now knowing she has made it back.
These birds are amazing with their knowledge of where to fly.
Thanks for all your help in getting her back home to her rightful owner.
