Hello,

I have a pigeon that I can no longer look after for personal reasons who needs a good home. He was bred from strong racing pigeons but didn't have a life ring fitted - only a numbered ring. He lives in a small portable loft, which is also free to take.

If anyone is able to look after him or has any advice, it'd be much appreciated.

Thanks.

@mizmo That's great. I'd be so happy for him to go to a new home and have other pigeons to socialise with. I'm based in Burley. The loft is free to take but I'm not sure it would fit in a car, unless you have a mate with a van. Here's a photo of the loft.

I will have him.

I am in Australia, is that a problem? {pear}

I am good! They aren't firing rubber bullets at me. Yet.

Nice looking little set up ccpigeon, did you race pigeons yourself or have you just enjoyed having them around ?? I may be able to help you out in a couple of weeks if no one else comes forward. We live in West Sussex and are coming to the New forest for our annual holiday so could possibly pick the bird up on our way back home but not the loft 🤠👍

Hi Trevor,

We actually managed to find a home for Renée the pigeon yesterday. A friend in is taking him on. But thank you anyway.

We started keeping pigeons in our allotment a year ago just out of interest, but have never raced them. We've had trouble keeping them - we're very close to the centre of Leeds and we see a lot of birds of prey circling overhead. Renée certainly seems to have something the others didn't, or maybe he's just lucky. Hopefully in the future we'll be in a better place to keep pigeons again because they've brought us a lot of pleasure.

@muzza I'm sure he'd appreciate the warmer climes, but I think he'd miss having his elaborate showers in the British rain!

And he wouldn't understand an Australian telling him to 'get in yer box!'.

So it's probably just as well..... {pear}

Love the name 🤠👍thanks for the update, going to the allotment won't be quite  the same without them. Good to hear you have found a home for Renèe, it turns out I was looking at the wrong Burley anyway so it might have difficult for me to get to you as I am in the South coast 😕😕😉

All the very best and maybe we'll here more from you in the future if you do manage to keep pigeons again.
