With only just getting a few birds in and reading your post I've noticed there are lots of different types of racing pigeons and breeds, spring, middle and long distance.
Depending on their distance what breed would you go for in each?

SPRINT ?

MIDDLE ?

LONG ?

it's just so I can get an idea of what to look for when I star next year.
Cheers,

Sprint Distance / Frans Zwols

Middle Distance / Vandenabeeles

Long Distance / De Weerdts

Thanks for the feed back lads.
When you start racing your birds are you picking your birds depending on the club your in ?
Do the clubs fly at different distances ?
For example Devo is your club mainly sprint or do they cover all distances ?
Cheers

In my club we race from 52 miles out to 473 miles, but I will be joining mnfc next year flying out to over 600 miles, so I have a mix of birds to do to do the different distances.

So would you say that would be the best way to go get a mixed bag of distance birds to cover all races mate.

Not sure, it's just the way things ended up for me and I'm happy with it at the moment, I have only kept pigeons for 3 years so I'm still learning myself.

Yes I could certainly breed you a few young birds for racing then it would only cost you the price of a courier.

That's good to hear Chris it'll all depend on everyone's breeding season, no pressure from me but I wouldn't mind being someone's apprentice lol.........
I think sometimes it's the only way to learn is to see it first hand, I know people have to pay sometimes top dollar for their birds so if when it comes to the next breeding season and there is some offers for birds then yes I'd do that mate. 😀
